Building

I’ve been preparing the area next to the kitchen where I plan to build. As always, I want to be able to look at the area and move things around to see how I feel. So I took out the porch that I put in last year and laid down one of the long pipes I plan to use. Then I put some blocks in the position I imagine a fireplace might go.

Can I make a firebox that has pipes running through it? Theoretically and literally. Then distribute the heat via hot air through pipes under the patio floor?
Over at the pond I’m experimenting with laying foot square concrete blocks on a sand base to make a floor. I’m seeing why they advise you to use sand with jagged edges. This stuff I’m picking up for free at the boat ramp in Port Hadlock doesn’t pack down well at all. I’m thinking about how to tamp it tight and smooth while adding some kind of aggregator.

I drained the pond of scum and rebuilt the raccoon defense enclosure. Next door the sunflowers are blooming. Perhaps I shall install my clay pots left over from the evaporation/refrigeration debacle and plant some lilies. I sure like this one that Lisa planted near the Solarium.

I really like cropping photos to make headers for the web sites. I’ve been experimenting with the format at Solomon Speaks ( edit out 11/15/2014) which allows for a rotating series of headers that are bigger than with this theme. And I’m looking at ways to lay out photos as displays. And I’m trying another theme at WorldTangoParty ( edit out 11/15/2014)
